Mark Zamarin, Sensei

Mark Zamarin,
3rd Dan, has been practicing martial arts for over 30years. He
started with Shotokan style of Karate which he practiced for many years in
Southern California. Upon moving to Utah, Mark started his Aikido journey
under T.K. Chiba, Shihan (master level instructor) and founder of the
Western Region of USAF. The training under Chiba Sensei was difficult
and demanding as this form of Aikido was considered "hard style."
Mark, also, trained extensively under Chris McPherson, Sensei.
Eventually, Mark and Jorge Valladares, Sensei became affiliated with the
Wakokan Dojo. In 2001 the dojo in Park City was started by Mark and
Jorge. Today, the dojo features Mark Zamarin and Rob Kidwell as its
primary instructors with assistance from all of its yodansha level members.
As a Delta Air Lines pilot, Zamarin Sensei studied
under numerous master Aikido instructors from most every affiliation.
These gifted people include Doshu, Moriteru Ueshiba; Saotome, Sensei; Von
Krenner Sensei; Doran Sensei; Freidl Sensei and many others. He has
encouraged all of his students to explore Aikido from every angle so that
they may find their own path. At the same time, Mark has been able to
pass on a most unique blend of hard and soft Aikido styles and recently has
added Russian Systema principles to his own teaching
method. Systema, when
integrated with traditional Aikido, is
a powerful combination.
Zamarin Sensei is an avid student of Zen
principles-something that is woven into the way he lives and all that he
teaches.

Zamarin, Sensei is assisted by Rob Kidwell, Nidan; Chris Haerter, Nidan; and
Duff Sheppard, Shodan
